Spell Discussion

I put this spell in the page: Arcane (S) Steam Steam Lightning (A) Cold (R) = Arcane (S) Steam Water(Q)Lightning (A) (wet steam lightning beam), and a guy removed it saying "Removed wet steam lightning beam - is identical to steam lightning beam". The question is, the elemental damage of the wet steam lightning beam is water-based, and the steam lightning beam is lightning-based, so, what do you guys think about add or not add this spell combination to the page? --Tiozinho 21:16, 29 January 2011 (PST)

I would like to see the wet steam lightning beam restored as well. Water elements give beams a pushing effect, so the beams are not identical. The steam beam does deal more damage (29,707 vs. 26,203 tested against chapter 2 Vlad), however the water beam's knockback property could prove more useful in some situations, such as against swarms of weaker enemies, than a steam lightning beam's extra damage. It's "only" a few thousand more. The most damaging beam in the game (Arcane (S) Steam Steam Lightning (A) Lightning (A)): 32,919. Surely Steam is only there to wet, and a double-damage Lightning does more damage than Steam, therefore wouldn't Arcane (S)SteamLightning (A)Lightning (A)Lightning (A) be stronger? -- Zeph

Order of casting

I think it is impossible to cast Arcane Lightning Steam in that order because to get steam you have to use water which cancels out the lightning. Proper order should be Steam then Lightning, agreed? --XKCD 17:43, 27 January 2011 (PST)

Unconventional spell usage?

Where to put a section for tips to better/unorthodox usage of spells? For example: The "Deludgeball" (Earth + 4 Water) can be used to fend off pursuers: while running, cast it on self (but continue moving), although you will be slowed down while casting, you will not suffer damage from the "ball" + knockback will not affect you, and all enemies will be thrown away. --LittleDaimon 05:05, 28 January 2011 (PST)

I don't think that it warrants its own section. Maybe an extra column on all tables labeled "Usage". This example would be most appropriate under the section on self-casts. I couldn't get the boulder to miss me unless I was under the effect of Haste, so that should be mentioned too. --Xenolith 09:04, 28 January 2011 (PST)
It gets trickier the more water you add, but it seems to have a slight glitch in it, cause if you cast before the last water stops "shinig" in the bar, you always get hit, but after that - it almost always misses. --LittleDaimon 12:30, 28 January 2011 (PST)

You can have as many Water Elements as you want when Ice is cast several times and Fire is cast when the bar is full. The same process also works with Steam. --Xenolith 13:52, 28 January 2011 (PST)

Should be correct now. Possible Spell Combinations Total of 1123 combinations for 4490 different options. I love this game. And I don't think anyone has figured out how to combine those, if it is possible.

3300 Damage Nova

While experimenting I came across a 5-elemental nova including Ice, Lightning and Arcane that did 3300 damage on a wet target. I've been unable to recreate it. Has anyone else used it and remembers the combination? --Xenolith 13:42, 28 January 2011 (PST)

Its a cold+arcane+lightning nova, which freezes the wet target and dealing extra dmg. RSAAA does 3140 on a wet goblin. - BeFlat

Useless/Weird spells section?

Probably add them (somewhere), since they do have some uses; E.g. setting yourself on fire prevents Yetis/Ice Trolls from grabbing you, and dropping rocks on your head while moving usually hits the guys following you. --Unregistered User

Water + Fire is possible!

I have achieved this, several times - water and fire are possible to combine without them becoming steam. I am currently trying to figure out what exactly I did - but the idea is that a certain order of combining water fire and ice upsets the order in which opposite elements nullify each other, leaving leftmost fire intact and degrading steam into water. It probably also means that water + cold is possible...

this "change" in the order is sometimes marked by an element that enters the cast bar from the left side, and slides to the right and disappears --LittleDaimon 01:36, 30 January 2011 (PST) Edit - still working on it, but lightning is also necessary somewhere in between...

I think this has something to do with steam and freeze canceling each other out. Steam+freeze = 1 water. Similarly, ice (freeze+water) + fire = water. Edit: Oops, you already knew that. As far as I can tell, this is just a display issue that happens when you chain elements too fast. Whenever I end up with fire+water (separately), they always act as steam. --Unregistered User

Couple of things things

Hey, I can't figure out how to work this editing business so here's two things I hope someone can put in there. First, you can use more than one stone element when building walls. The more you use, the stronger the wall becomes (1-4 all have different strength), just like when you selfcast shield+stone. This goes for all the walls, they'll last longer and have more health if you use more of their building element (steam/frozen water). Second, you can use shield+(water+ice)+electricity (+electricity+electricity) to create some very high damage ice shard lightning towers (sort of channeled damage instead of explosions). This is excellent for escaping from a shield+earth+self, since the lightning will stun enemies around you. There's also a range of cone/breath attacks using steam+x: steam+fire, steam+electricity, steam+fire+electricity. Also, freeze+electricity chain lightning that slows fire+electricity chain lightning that sets people on fire --Unregistered User

I know I personally memorise things by their letter combos - I've added a column to the first list with the PC key combos. --Unregistered User

AOE and shield effects

It should be noted somewhere that using AOE instead of standard cast on shields will create a complete circle instead of a semicircle. Also works for all shield based spells. --Unregistered User

Physical protection aura

so Steam+Shield gives protection against steam. I've tested against range/melee mobs and projectile spells on self. It does not offer any protection against physical attacks, it does however offer protection against steam....I vote the description be changed to "Steam protection aura". I'd do it myself, but wanted to hear, what you guys think. Did I miss something? --Unregistered User

Damages on frozen enemies?

Heya guys. It seems that some spells do more damages on frozen target (or frozen target takes more damage from some elements). A blizzardball (4 ice 1 earth) on a frozen enemy does 20000+ damages. A steam lightning arcane nova (2 steam 2 lightning 1 arcane) on frozen targets does 6400 damages AoE.

/!\ New display idea [IMPORTANT]

Heya guys. While reading the page, it seems that the spells presentations could be more readable and logical.

I don't see the point to put an "arcane fireball" in this table, except to show a specific example of a multiple element stone projectile spell.

So, my idea is : -A simple table by element showing what exactly does each added element. -And a sub-table showing some typical examples and useful spells (you'll found here the blizzardball, super steam beam and so on...).

Please tell me what do you think about this template.

I need more opinions about this kind of display. If I work on other spells, it will take hours and I don't want to spend this time to then see some people keep the previous version because they find it better. Thank you all. :)

I like this display. But I don't like it forced at 1024px width because my monitor is 1280 in width and I have to horizontal scroll. It needs to be smaller in width to account for even smaller monitors and displays (such as laptop users). The large 32x32 Combo Element icons do not help the situation. Element Icon sizes

Everyone should try to use the new template I duplicated for smaller element icons Water(Q)Life (W)Shield (E)Cold (R)Lightning (A)Arcane (S)Earth (D)Fire (F)SteamIce which are much easier to use within paragraphs of text such as this one as they are 16x16. The template uses the same format, except that its Template:Elem rather than Template:Element, which are 32x32. As an example, see where Chapter One, Category:Walkthrough, Monsters have now switched to using the smaller sized icons to make text easier to read. Yo!
I like these smalls icons.
They're very useful to put them in some paragraphs and discussions without distorting the text lines.
But I don't think they fit on the spell combinations page, where the icons are very important and should be one of the first things you see.
Actually, with a resolution of 1920 * 1080, they're way too small for this kind of pages.

Perhaps only the "Element Combo" column should use the large ones because the other columns are in-lined in text and look really out of place. Also, not everyone uses 1920x1080, I still use a 17" 1280x1024 and its way too large on my screen. Try resizing your browser window to about 2/3 your monitor size (or change your resolution) and you'll see what I mean. The Element Combo and Additional Effect columns start to take up 2 or even 3 rows of text. Especially the Element Combo column.Xinhuan 05:08, 9 February 2011 (PST)

Lightning Ice Walls...

Yo!

I've tried to see what is the best element combo to have the better and more powerful lightning ice walls with imbued weapon.


First of all, when summoning these 3 icy shards, any target can be hit by 2 shards instead of 1. He just have to touch them both and it often happen.

If you want to be quite sure to double hit, swing your sword from a medium distance. If the distance is too short, only one shard will hit.

Touching with 2 shards will double damages. All the damages written next are considered "doubled", and on a dry target.


A single and lonely ice shard does 251 damages.

Oh, and there is something weird about the duration. The duration seems to be increased by the number of ice, or the number of lightning, but not when there are more ice than lightning + other elements... Or something like this. See, Shield (E)IceIceIceLightning (A) lasts a short time when Shield (E)IceIceIceArcane (S) lasts a long time.

S-A-F-E Resistance Aura

I know that its cool that the save combo makes u resistant to those damaging elements, but i would like to add, that QF-S-A-F-E is the better option, cos steam is the most terrifying dmg element. And if you want to list those strong element combos, than it should be QF-SAFE not only safe, even though safe sounds cool. note that steam as an aura will save u only from the steam dmg not the wet effect. u need to have water for this job. - BeFlat EDIT: I added it.

Using AOE shield to get effects on closing enemies

Use e+aoe for a shield, buff it up with some e+w healing mines, than move a step closer to the edge. drop a water+stone(+heal) on your head with mid mouse to let the water rock crush on your shield, (healing it up), and making closing enemies wet..repeat process with cold having all surrounding enemies frozen. tip: skip the healing mines and hurry, you can have your shield wear off when the cold rock hits it, leaving frozen enemies ready to be blasted by a steam arcane lightning nova. edit: also works with the normal right click shield, you just have to move a step under the shield. - BeFlat

wet->frozen->frozen/wet=Hexadmg amplify for "Non-Steam-but-Lightning-Spells"

Dunno if this is new, but you should know that there is more damage amplify than triple dmg on frozen targets: a target which becomes wet while being frozen recieves hexa-dmg from lightning-arcane based spells that dont include steam. note that you need arcane to enable lightning to hit a frozen target.

A+S nova does:

- 755 on a dry target - 1510 on a wet target - 2265 on a frozen target - 4530 on a frozen/wet target

R+S nova does:

- 475 on a dry target - 1425 on a wet target - 1425 on a frozen target - 1425 on a frozen/wet target

R+A+S nova does:

- 805 on a dry target - 2415 on a wet target - 2415 on a frozen target - 2415 on a frozen/wet target

Imbue QFQFAAS does:

- 2802 on a dry target - 2802 on a wet target - 8405 on a frozen target - 8405 on a frozen/wet target

Which means: wet effect does 2xdmg and frozen dmg does 3xdmg and frozen/wet does 2x3x dmg, this only works with spells that dont include steam of course.

Steam-Lightning-Arcane-Spells on a frozen target will do more dmg than a "Non-Steam-but-Lightning-Spells" on a frozen/wet target, but u can cast A+S much quicker than QFQFQFAS. The target is frozen for a just a few seconds, where u can spam A+S novas. Not much of a use though in a game where no standard mob survives a A+S nova being frozen anyways :D - BeFlat

Edit: thats why EQFAAA+ERAAA (one weapon imbue, the other as a storm with right click) is the strongest spell combo in the game.

I bought Minecraft beacuse my friends wanted me to. I didn't play a ton of it solo, since I'd get owned every damn night (or, if I even managed to put together a mud hut, in the morning when I came out >_< ) I did have a good time in sandbox mode just building things. BIG things.

Useful spell omission

Hi, first post :) A spell that I've found useful for making dome barriers pretty much unkillable, and also for beating Death in two attacks from him, doesn't seem to be on this list (but the arcane version of it is on there).

Shield (E)IceLife (W)

It creates ice chunks, like normal, with life 'runes' surrounding it, just like the arcane version; the shards differ greatly from the earth barriers with arcane or life, both versions:

Instead of just making an explosion of their respective element when they die, they also have a passive healing/damaging aura around them.

A full ring of life icebergs spammed (only need one ice element, longevity isn't a concern) inside a dome barrier will fully heal it from just that one spell, FAR more effective than life mines, even though it will actually heal monsters standing next to the barrier's wall.

I also used this in the boss fight against Death, he was being healed by two or three of the bergs (thus damaging him), and was more than half killed after his first manifestation!


Also, a less useful one, you can make icebergs which spout cold or water; the water one isn't on this list. It also seems to have been missed that while adding ice to that combo will increase the lifespan and life of the iceberg, adding the other element (cold or water) will increase the duration of the geyser. This only has any effect if both ice and water are given two spaces, since the iceberg expires before the geyser if it only has one space.

Frankly I'd just use stone geysers.

A-R-S-E mines

A good damaging spell, and an easy combination to remember ARSE then Shift+Right click will lay down a circle of very good knockback and damaging mines useful when getting mobbed

Armour details

Rock has 1500 health.

Ice has 900 health and a flat reduction, like metal armour. Has a downside like metal too, increases fire vulnerability.

Wet doesn't affect how much damage armour takes from lightning. I realized the self-shock from conjuring while wet actually does 125 damage. Normally doubled, it does 125 to armour.

Names

I've been going around the wiki and I've noticed 2 things: 1. None of the names of the spells seem to match up. 2. Who is Jolthazar the Angry? (See "Elements\Details"). I was just wondering which names are official and what aren't.

Multiplayer Beam combination

This is a pretty good combination for 2 or more players:

One uses Water(Q)Arcane (S)Lightning (A)Lightning (A)Lightning (A)
And the other(s) Cold (R)Arcane (S)Lightning (A)Lightning (A)Lightning (A)

This results in a frozen + wet target, with high lightning damage.

The Water(Q) + Lightning (A) combination can be obtained by making SteamArcane (S)Lightning (A)Lightning (A)Lightning (A) and then Cold (R) (or QFSAAAR on a qwerty keyboard)

Beware not to cross beams though!

New Spell! ~ Cold Wall of Healing Explosion ~

I am unsure where to put this, so I'll place it here.

QR+QR+QR+W+E (Shift+Right mouse)

In other words, IceIceIceLife (W)Shield (E) + AoE.

This creates a ring of ice which can protect, but also heals when close to it. Then, the ice explodes dealing a lot of healing.

When casting: Move slightly closer to the side of the ring to get effects. I have been able to get above 11000 health from this.
